ABOUT

PHILOSOPHY

Idyllwild is an event design and production studio that believes the best celebrations are laid-back and luxurious at the same damn time.

You know that friend who’s smart, creative and puts you right at ease? She also has a luminous presence and she's easy on the eyes, but not pretentious about it? That’s Idyllwild, and that’s the kind of event we produce. It’s a deeply thoughtful wedding day experience that feels as if you hosted it at your own home. That is, if your home were these. epic. mountains.

I'm out here dreaming up all the moments of surprise and delight your guests could ask for, because I want them to experience what you already know:

The most memorable weddings are so personalized that guests leave with a lasting impression of their shared time with you.

So, with that in mind, why not put their experience first? I'm especially drawn to events that break away from the routine. All the better if we can bring in natural elements to softly elevate the space. A barn in the woods, a loft overlooking the Hudson, or a converted industrial building becomes utter magic when Nature is an honored guest. Let's welcome the outside in. Isn’t that why you decided to do this thing upstate in the first place? Let's share that magic with your chosen family.

I also like to bring the inside out. Who doesn’t love to dine al fresco? To dance under the stars? To steal a kiss in a field full of fireflies? I love a wedding that’s like summer camp, but sexy. Or like a trip to the museum, where the art is the world all around.

INSPIRATION IS EVERYWHERE

Pre-dawn mountain fog, historic buildings, pastoral life, local food, fall foliage, that woodsy campfire smell

the founder

JASMIN

Based in New York’s Mid-Hudson Valley with a satellite space in the eastern Catskills, Jasmin brings a directorial eye and a theatrical background to the world of weddings.

While it may seem less-than-romantic (or maybe not), a wedding really is a production with hundreds of moving parts. And just as the theater can touch souls and effect change, so can the celebration of your union. Jasmin has a theatrical performance and production design background which developed right here amongst the mountains and lakes of upstate New York. She began working in fine dining at the age of 19 and gathered further expertise while working in event production and floral design studios in NYC. To her, the application of these skills in the production of your event feels natural and intuitive.

Growing our sustainability Practice

Core Values

It's a practice- and not a procedure- because we're always working to improve it. Nature is our church. We power our HV home studio (and the rest of our lives) with solar roof tiles. Our Catskills space is completely off-the-grid, meaning we use only solar or battery-operated lighting and tools, collect our water in rain barrels, and compost our floral and personal waste. Because there are no utilities, we've been able to live on top of the earth without drilling or stripping the land of its integrity.

We reduced our use of toxic floral foam- once an industry staple- by 75% in 2021, and all of our 2022 work was completely foam free. Going forward, we aim to create all of our signature installations without any floral foam or single-use plastics. So far, so good. Practice makes progress!

Inclusivity isn't some Elusive ideal.

Core Values

It's an integral part of who we are. It's of paramount importance to us that both our team and our client base reflect our community. And our community is one that is rich, deep, loving, and super-diverse.

Idyllwild Event Design is a black-owned, woman-owned business. POC, LGBTQIA+ folx, artists, progressives, activists, educators, and general good trouble are all welcome here.

We admit that we don't know everything, because that's the only way to learn anything. We are always striving to broaden our perspective, to seek diversity, and to remain teachable. We also love to have a damned good time.

MAKing wedding planning EXCITING AGAIN

You’ve already trekked upstate and booked your venue. Now you’re excited to dig into the granular details that’ll make your event really feel like you. Guest experience is your top priority. You adore the outdoors. You get down with trends, but you lean hard toward timeless beauty. You’ve got a weakness for the finer things. You’re a collaborative couple and your partner is your best friend.
Sounds like you? Let’s put our heads together.
