Compose
We develop a working design plan, iterating through references, materials, and scale. We then develop mood boards, narrative direction, and the visual language tying the event together. Renderings and mockups appear in your private portal.
Build
Once the overall design is set, Idyllwild sources or builds all of the custom elements. We align all creative partners to the design, ensuring consistency across florals, rentals, layouts, lighting, and materials.

Classical artists brought the landscape into the frame. We bring the frame into the landscape. With furnishings, architecture, flora, textures, and colors, we sculpt idyllic moments in outdoor interiors. We build and blend and refine until the environment feels like a world created specifically around you and the people you love.
We design with a balance of creativity and restraint, letting the landscape, your values, and your story guide the atmosphere we build together.

How is Event Design different from Planning or Coordination?
Event Design shapes the visual and emotional environment of your day — the materials, florals, palettes, atmospheres, and artistic direction.
Planning has two distinct arms:
Design (our role)
Management (typically your coordinator’s role)
Event managers execute timelines and liaise with guests on of the day itself.
Idyllwild works in harmony with your venue and manager/coordinator so every creative and logistical element supports the same vision.

What’s the investment?
The 2026 design retainer is $5,750, with a minimum additional spend of $7,500 for design implementation or floral/artistic elements.
Most couples invest 10–12% of their overall wedding budget in Event Design, depending on scale and scope. Travel and lodging investment outside of Dutchess and Ulster counties varies by location.
Idyllwild will create a tailored proposal after your consultation.
Do you also create the florals?
Yes — when desired.
Idyllwild offers floral design as an optional add-on, guided by your custom floral plan. (All the florals on our site were created by Idyllwild.) Some couples add florals and custom pieces through us; others have a separate florist execute the vision.
Either way, the aesthetic stays truly 'designed' and beautifully connected.
What if I don’t know my style yet?
That’s the purpose of this process. You only need to know what it is that brings you joy.
Through guided questionnaires, mood boards, and narrative-building, Idyllwild helps you uncover the visual language that feels most like you. No clear “style” needed.
Can you work with my Venue Manager or coordinator?
Absolutely.
Idyllwild collaborates closely with venues and coordinators to ensure every aesthetic choice supports the timeline, guest experience, and overall creative direction.

What’s included in the design package, and what isn’t?
Included: vision development, design boards, color and material palettes, custom floor plans, floral direction, ceremony concepts, tablescapes, décor sourcing, and full aesthetic oversight, installation and breakdown.
Not included: rentals, florals, signage, paper goods, or custom décor builds — though many couples choose to add florals or other physical goods through Idyllwild to keep everything visually aligned.

How far in advance should we book?
Most couples book 12–15 months ahead to allow a full, unhurried design process. But if your date is sooner, reach out. Idyllwild occasionally has space for shorter-term projects.

Jasmin Norwood
I design weddings the way all fine artists work: I uncover a motif that has meaning, and I express that motif with nuance. Event design should be a whisper rather than a shout. When it's done well, guests feel your story without being able to point to why. And they know for certain whose wedding they're attending.
The first thing I ask every couple is to tell me their engagement story. The answer reveals so much: what matters to them, how they see each other, their quirks and charms, and what they want the people they love to feel. The design grows from there.
Color palettes and Pinterest boards do matter- they give us a shared visual vocabulary- but they're not where the heart of the design lives. The heart is in your story.
With a background in theatrical production, floral design, and hospitality, I approach each wedding as an artistic director, translating that story into a cohesive vision, simplifying decisions, and creating an environment that feels entirely, unmistakably yours.
